Christians in Teaching Project

Mr Ian Keast

Teaching is a most important profession. There are some professions which have special opportunities to make an impact on people with the gospel. Teaching is certainly one of these professions, for two reasons. The Christian teacher has many opportunities to pass on to students the transforming message about the Lordship of Jesus. In this way, the Christian teacher is helping to shape and mould the next generation; helping students build their lives wisely on Jesus as their foundation. The Christian teacher is also in a privileged position to nurture the God-given gifts, "humanness" and creativity of our students. In God's providence these are many and varied: academic, social, sporting, creative. The Christian teacher nurtures these areas in recognition that Jesus is Lord over all.

For these reasons the Christians in Teaching Project aims to encourage Christians to enter the teaching profession; to consider the vocation of teaching as a Kingdom priority and serve Christ in all types of schools, both public and independent.
